Ronda Rousey is the first American UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion and mixed martial artist. A famous name in mixed martial arts, Rousey participated in 14 fights and won 12 of them. Additionally, she is also a judo player. She took part in the “Summer Olympics” in Beijing in 2008 and became the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in judo. Eminem called her the “Slaughterhouse of Jerseys,” and she was ranked among the 50 most dominant athletes alive in 2015. She is also the world’s number one fighter in the MMA pound-for-pound fighter, according to MMA Rising. Born in Godoka, extremely accomplished, she inherited her mother’s passion for martial arts.

Rousey’s idyllic childhood was shattered when her loving father, who was seriously injured in an accident, committed suicide after he was unable to deal with the disabilities he suffered from the accident. She struggled during her tragic childhood to appear as outstanding judo player. She was very successful in judo and participated in the 2008 “Olympics” in Beijing, China. Childhood and Early Life:

Ronda Rousey was born in Riverside, California, USA on February 1, 1987, to Anne Maria de Mars and Ron Rossi. Her mother, Anne Maria de Mars, was an accomplished judo player and was the first American citizen to win the World Judo Championship. Her father, Ron Rossi, was a soldier. She of English, Polish, Trinidadian and Venezuelan ancestry. Tragedy struck the family when their father, who was injured in a sleigh accident, was told he would be paraplegic. Unable to bear the weight of his disability, he committed suicide. Ronda was only eight years old at the time of her father’s death and this accident severely affected her.

Later, her mother married an aeronautical engineer. Ronda Rousey had trouble at school and found it difficult to focus on her studies. Her mother convinced her to learn judo, thinking it would be an outlet for her frustration. Her mom became her first coach and made Ronda’s training very difficult. She was appointed to the United States Olympic team at the age of 15. Therefore, she dropped out of high school at the age of 16 and later acquired a G.E.D. At the age of 17, she qualified for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, becoming the youngest judo player in all the Olympic Games.

Ronda Rousey was not able to win a medal at the 2004 Olympic Games. However, he did win a gold medal at the “World Junior Judo Championships” in Budapest and also in the “Pan American Judo Championships” in the same year. In 2006, she won the gold medal at the “Birmingham World Cup” in Great Britain and also defended her title of the “All-American Judo Championship”. She won the bronze medal in the “World Junior Championships”, becoming the first American judo player to win two world junior medals, in the same year. In 2007, Ronda Rousey was not only ranked among the top three women in the world in the 70kg category but also won the gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games. In the same year, she was awarded the silver medal in the 2007 World Judo Championship in the middleweight category.

As a judo player, she participated in the Olympic Games in Beijing, China in the year 2008. Although she lost the quarter-finals to Edith Bush, she ended up winning a bronze medal after qualifying for another match through the set-offs. With this victory, she became the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in judo. She retired from judo after the 2008 Olympics. After her retirement, she worked as a waitress for some time. Ultimately, she joined “Glendale Fighting Club” and debuted in amateur mixed martial arts in August 2010. In her debut match, she defeated Hayden Munoz by delivering an arm in 23 seconds. She scored several other amateur victories over the next several months and had a perfect 3-0 record in the amateur MMA competition.

Later Works:

Ronda Rousey then made her mixed martial arts debut in March 2011 in “King of the Cage: Turning Point”, where she defeated Ediane Gomes with an arm surrender in 25 seconds. She made her Strikeforce debut against Sarah D’Alio in August 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She defeated D’Alio with the introduction of a technical arm in the first round. Misha Tate, the women’s “Strikeforce” bantamweight champion at the time, then challenged her title. Their match was heavily publicized as the professional rivalry between the two women was well known. She defeated Misha Tate by arm in the first round to become the new “Strikeforce” Women’s Pantham Bantamweight Champion. Rousey had Kaufman lead in just 54 seconds to retain the “Strikeforce” welterweight championship. She was challenged for her title by Alexis Davis in the joint main event of “UFC 175” in July 2014.

Ronda Rousey won the fight by knockout in just 16 seconds in the first round.
