Kendrick Lamar is an American rapper and lyricist. He is a critically acclaimed and commercial artist who started his musical journey as a teenager. Lamar started his career recording mixed music under the pseudonym K-Dot. He signed his first music contract at the age of 16 with the record label Top Dawg Entertainment. After that, he formed a hip-hop group and released their albums and singles, in addition to actively participating in shows and tours. As part of his career, he has been associated with artists such as Jay Rock, Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre, Game, Taylor Swift, and Rihanna.

Kendrick Lamar has received nearly 135 award nominations, out of which he has won nearly 45 awards. Kendrick Lamar was born in Compton, California on June 17, 1987. His mother named him after singer-songwriter Eddie Kendricks. He completed his elementary education at McNair Elementary in the Compton Unified School District. Later on, he attended Centennial High School in Compton. In 2004, at the age of 16, Kendrick Lamar launched his first project. Mixed tape titled “Youngest Responsible Nega Boss”, under the nickname K-Dot.
