Childhood and Early Life:

Iggy Azalea was born on June 07, 1990, in Sydney, Australia. Her family moved to Mullumbimby, New South Wales, when she was still a child. Her father, Brendan Kelly, was a comic book illustrator and artist. Azalea’s mother Tanya cleaned the vacation homes and hotels. Her father encouraged her to consider a fine arts career when she was a teenager. Azalea, who was mocked at school for her home clothes, hated school. Nevertheless, she attended her art class with enthusiasm. She eventually dropped out of high school and began working with her mother to raise money to fulfill her dream of moving to America. She started rap music at the age of 14, and she even formed a group with two other girls.

However, the group eventually disbanded because her bandmates were not serious about pursuing a music career. Since the age of 11, she has been drawn to hip-hop music. But she felt alienated in her homeland because no one shared the same interests. She became friends with Derek, a teenager from the Bahamas, met him online and started sharing rap songs with him for his contribution. Just before her 16th birthday, she convinced her parents to let her go on vacation to the US and head to Miami, where Derek was living at the time. Soon after, she revealed to her family that she had decided to pursue her music career in the US and that she would not be returning home anytime soon. For six years, she worked illegally in the United States without a work visa.

Around this time, she met Natalie Sims and FKi, with whom she will collaborate in the future. In 2010, she moved to Los Angeles. The following year, she released her first full-length music tape, titled “The Ignorant Art”. Music videos for her songs went viral and her album was praised for her aggressiveness. In 2012, after a short stint as a model, she returned to the musical field and enlisted the help of Southern rapper T.I. for the release of their first studio album “The New Classic”. However, the album was delayed after Interscope Records, which was running it at the time, objected to T.I.’s involvement in the project. She later released the album in April 2014 under the title “Def Jam Recordings”.

Iggy included the single “Murda Bizness” that was originally intended for her debut album. She released another single, Millionaire Misfits, in June 2012. In October 2012, she released her second track, TrapGold. It was produced by Grammy and “FKi” nominated producer Diplo. In November 2014, she re-released her album “The New Classic” with a new title “Reclassified”. Her second studio album, “Digital Distortion”, was scheduled to be released in July 2016. However, she delayed the release to 2017 due to her separation from longtime boyfriend Nick Young. Iggy then released her music album Survive the Summer in August 2018 under the title Island Records. The album contained songs like “Tokyo Snow Trip” and “Kream”. In 2018, she founded her record company, which was later called Neoclassical Records. In July 2019, her second studio album In My Defense was released under her record label, which changed her name to Bad Dreams.
